Every year - 1 Hope Ministries International collects blankets to share with the orphan children of South Africa.

This year, we were gratefull to recieve many blankets from foreign donors and local companies and individuals.Through the relationships 1Hope has with differenct local churches and orphan homes (Mercy Network), we were able to provide various orphans with warm blankets this winter!

The blanket drive allows the local church to strenghthen their relationship with the orphans they serve in their community. Many of the childrens homes in South Africa dont recieve support on a continuous basis and has to survive on spontaneous donations. A blanket means so much to these children...

I want to get involved - what do I do?

1) Donate R100 and reference "Blanket Drive" (see our "Donation information" page)

2) Become a champion to help raise awareness for this project

3) Join us in meeting with the children

Thank you to all for your contributions this winter!!

For our international audience...

We are adding one more option to our blanket drive this year again…Many internationally love to participate in this project but so much money is spent on shipping…so this year we are offering the option of donating $30 (R200) and we can purchase a blanket for you and the funds that would have been used for shipping can go towards something more permanent – a Baby Home.

ABOUT THE PROJECT:

Buy a “Muphamuzi Blanket” and help give an abandoned baby a home.

Muphamuzi Blanket - $30 (R200) The blanket will go directly to an orphan or disadvantaged child.  Winter is fast approaching in South Africa and winter brings cool days and very cold nights (even below freezing).  Many of these vulnerable children will sleep with little way to keep warm.  By purchasing a “Muphamuzi Blanket” you can help keep a child warm this winter…and help 1Hope open our first Baby House…which will keep many babies warm, safe and loved…and placed into loving families. The 1Hope Team has been praying for a home – a Baby House, where we can house abandoned babies in a safe and loving environment until they can be placed into a forever family.

South Africa has millions of orphans – hundreds of babies are abandoned every month…some in trash bins…some in hospitals.

One of the little boys, Muzi, was one of these.  His mom checked out of the hospital where Muzi had to stay because of being so very very sick…  she never returned.  Muzi’s full name is “Muphamuzi’ which means “give me a home”.  Many of these abandoned babies die – the hospitals are understaffed and are not equipped for long term care of sick babies…  money is not spent on a baby if it seems the baby may die.  1Hope serves in an area just 2km from a huge government hospital here in Pretoria where babies are abandoned every week.   By donating $30 (R200)  you can not only provide a warm blanket for an orphan this winter but the proceeds will go directly to “Muphamuzi Home” fund.

If you would like to purchase a “Muphamuzi Blanket” you may do so through our donation link set up on the 1hope website.  See link below.  Be sure to designate your donation to  “1Hope Muphamuzi Blanket”.
