INFO: Amani is from Democratic Republic of Congo and has been in South Africa for almost 10 years now. He fled his country as war overtook most every region. His parents were able to make their way to United States to join their daugher who had already immigrated there. Amani and his sister have been on their own here in South Africa and would love to one day join their family in USA. Amani is busy trying to finish school and has been good friends with Paul and Moustapha for many years. These 3 boys live share a small room and enjoy singing together and are known as the “Blessed Boys”. Amani loves the Lord and is attending Living Hope Church in Sunnyside.

NEEDS: Food, finance to receive documents to enable him to move to USA, school fees.

PRAYER: To know and love God above all!! To finish school. To one day join his family in USA.

INFO: Amani is from Democratic Republic of Congo and fled his country 3 years ago to escape the war. Amani’s family remains back in DRC, struggling and counting on Amani to support and help them. On a small income as a parking guard Amani does what he can to help his family back home, pay for rent and food here, and finds that saving for schooling seems impossible. Amani would like to go back to school to finish his high school degree. Amani stays in an apartment with many others, sharing a room with his cousin. Amani has come to love the Lord and has such a joy in the life God has given him here. Amani attends Living Hope Church in Sunnyside.

PRAYER: For a better job, to be able to finish school correspondence while working, to know and love the Lord more each day.

Moustapha Kahutu

INFO: Moustapha is from the Democratic Republic of Congo and was orphaned at a young age. At age 11 he fled his country as war spread and approached where he was attending school. He and his friend Paul jumped out of their school window and started their journey to South Africa. It took close to 4 months traveling without any document or specific guide by ships, land, train and foot. They traveled through seven countries (DRC, Burundi, Tanzania, Zambia, Malawi, Mozambique, Zimbabwe, and then South Africa. Refugee camps in some of these countries helped with food and other needs along the way. Moustapha is busy trying to finish school and would like to go further in his studies after high school. He has been on his own and has received care from other kind refugee families who have given him shelter and food when possible over the past 6 years. Moustapha loves the Lord and wants to serve Him with his life. He enjoys singing and is part of a gospel rap band called “Blessed Boys”. He is now attending Living Hope Church in Sunnyside.

Rudi Bihojo Anderson

rudiINFO: Rudi is from Democratic Republic of Congo. Rudi lost his mother at age 6 and after much war and fighting fled his country about 3 years ago, first making his way up to Kenya and then after about a year making the long trip all the way to South Africa to join his brother. Rudi works as a barber in the city and makes about $100 a month – just enough each month to pay for his share of rent where he lives with many other people. Rudi is Amani T’s cousin and they are both part of Living Hope Church in Sunnyside. Rudi is growing in his love and knowledge of the Lord and longs to know the Bible more!! His love is soccer and will play at any chance. He also longs to go back to school and be trained in computers.


PRAYER: To grow in his knowledge of the Bible. Provision of food and other necessities, fees for schooling.
